    Oil Pump Replacement

I am replacing the oil pump in a 350 Chevy, 1970 corvette. The manual says that you must have the shaft from the pump and the shaft from the distributor lined up. I noticed that the oil pump shaft has a slot in the end but I havent removed the old one so I don't know what the dist. shaft end looks like. Is their some special technique to insert the two together or to make sure that it is lined up? It came with a little plastic sleeve, I guess this stays on the shaft? Does it help line the two up? Thanks

    Re: Oil Pump Replacement

install the intermedate shaft to the pump. then install the unit into the rear main cap and if you still have the distributor installed you will have to rotate the shaft till it engages the distributor. do not force the pump on,make sure you have the slot in the shaft and the distributor lined up. i am assuming you are doing this in the car.
