What was the finish and or color of the Transmission and Bell Housing?

I believe it was natural cast iron.

I belive that the adapter that mounts on the back of the block is nautral with a little engine overspray, but the Powerglide case was painted Flat black. The PG had never been out of my 60 prior to me rebuilding it and it was painted all black. I have presented it this way for a couple of judgings and have never taken a point for it. The 60 JG agreees with this observation, and I don't belive that a 57 would have been any different.

I belive that this is true for all Cast Iron PG transmissions in all Corvettes.
Roy Braatz would probably be a good source of info on early PG cars, as I am sure that he has a bunch of them out over the years. You listening Roy?
The transmissions were painted complete with the exception of the linkage and the blue plactic medallion on top of the transmission.
