    C2-L79 with K19

I have finally assembled (I think)all of the required parts to place a properly configured smog system on my 1967 327/350.

I just received a repro air cleaner base from Paragon. However, it has three tubes coming out of the base. One is for the PCV on the drivers side rear, one passenger side front of the smog pump and one passenger side rear for ???? who knows. I need to call Paragon, maybe the box/part was mis-labeled but I can not find in the AIM and other publications, including Noland Adams Rest. and Technical Guide this third tube. Any ideas ?

Any insstallation tips or warnings I need to heed ?

Also, any good sources for Air Mixture Control Valves ? I would like to have an extra. I have sufficient extra check valves.

    Thanks in advance.

Mike - I have an original GM base just like this, it is what I believe a service base for both the small block and big block applications. While functional by plugging the unused tube, it is not production correct. Fortuneately, I was able to fine a nice original small block base. While I haven't verified what I just described other than my own guessing, maybe someone like Joe Lucia can comment. Paragon, however, shows pictures with the correct bases so I am not sure why you ended up with a reproduction base in this configuration....I will be curious to see how this turns out...Craig

Thanks Craig. I spoke to Paragon today. All of their replacement part bases are of the three tube configuration- but no one knows why. I was unable to find an original base, but I will keep looking. Silly question, how would you recommend plugging the tube ?

Mike - my original GM unit has some rubber plugs that slip over the spare spigots. There was a GM number on it, but I am sure they are long ago discontinued. I always figured this was some sort of parts service counter replacement, so one part would serve both the big block and small block bases. In addition, I believe mine has that stud on the passenger side which was for 66 only I think....another item so it would service both years and engine types. The original I was able to get recently is correct without the stud, and without the extra pipe, I had been looking for 2-3 years. I really thought Paragon used to have the correct repro bases in their catalogs several years ago with only two pipes, but I haven't paid a lot of attention....now for a decent plug for the extra spigot you may be able to find something close at your local ACE hardware in the section where they have chair foot tips...or maybe in the plumbing section for some type of plug for sealing refrigeration lines etc. Another alternative (not pretty but functional) would be to get a chunk of heater hose, and make a plug out of plastic rod etc, and use hose clamps....ugly but functional....Good luck!...Craig
