    1968 Heater Control Assm. - No A/C

Anyone know where I can get a new heater control housing (I have a new reface kit for the heater control and wheels) and metal console mounting plate for my 68?

I've looked in the usual supplier cats., but can not find it.

    Any help will be appreciated.

    Regards,

    Rich

When you use the term "new", if you're referring to a brand new or NOS part, you're setting up a parameter that may have you looking for years and, likely, in vain.

The 1968 heater control assembly without A/C was a one-year-only piece. The original part number was GM #3909020. That part was discontinued in January 1971 and replaced by GM #3937176. Unfortunately, the latter part was discontinued in July, 1977.

I don't know what differences that the 68 exhibits from the 69-76 units but, as far as GM is concerned, they are not interchangeable. Even the 69-76 units are difficult to locate, especially the "without A/C" units. Here's why:

The 68 and 69-76 WITH A/C control assemblies were, once-upon-a-time, available through BOTH the Delco and GM parts channels. Delco parts sytem availability put a lot of these units out into the parts distribution system. However, the 68 and 69-76 WITHOUT A/C units were NEVER available through the Delco parts system; they were ONLY available through the GM parts system.

About 15 years ago, I looked high-and-low for an NOS 1969 WITHOUT A/C control assembly. It took me about 2 years to find one, but I finally prevailed although I had to pay a stiff price and endure other "trevails" for this acquisition [NOT for sale].

      Thanks Joe.

I would actually take anything that would work at this point.

Sounds like no one makes this assm. at all.

Any tips on where to get a salvage one?

Try Pacific Corvette in Puyallup, WA or Paragon Vintage in Swartz Creek, MI.
