Just re- assembling the spindles on the trailing arms on my 67'. And I'm not sure which way the seals go! The first thing on the spindle is the larger ID seal and than the first bearing. The directions I have are coonfusing and I'm not sure they were right when I took it apart! One side is mostly brass and the other is rubber with a rubber lip facing you. Does the brass side face the bearing or the rubber side face the bearing??? How about the inside bearing seal? I would appreciate any help!! Thanks!!! Mike Arteaga #34566

Re: C2 Spindle seal direction?
I dont know what kind of seals that you have. There are different designs. Chicago Rawhide has a directional seal that has a lip that turns out, like a main bearing seal. Naturally, that turnout would go toward the cavity that holds the grease. Other types have a simple wiper type seal. Its just a piece of rubber that has no shape. They are basically non directional. However they install easier one way than the other because of the metal edge shape. You will have to decide which way it will install the easiest.- Top
