    Power Steering Brackets and pulleys

Are the power steering pump brackets and pulleys for the for big block Chevy engines unique to Corvettes? It would be a bit cheaper to get these off an old Impala in the salvage yard if it were true.
    Thanks for any help.

Pumps carry a different part number for Pass car and Corvette, but the parts listed in the '68 parts book appear to be the same for both. reservoir part numbers for BB Pass and Corvette also the same, thus the exterior appearance would be the same, Pulley is a Corvette only item.

      John and Bill-----

The Corvette power steering pumps differed from passenger car pumps due to the internal power steering fluid filter which only Corvettes (and some trucks) utilized. Otherwise, the Corvette and passenger car pumps were the same for any given year. 1963 through 1974 are, basically, the same and are, as a unit, interchangeable. Their external appearance is virtually identical, too. 1975+ used a different style resevoir and different shaft configuration (press on pullies with no retaining nut). A passenger car pump can be used on a Corvette; most rebuilt pumps have the filter deleted, anyway, and rebuilt pumps do not have a unique Corvette application.

The power steering pump brackets for big block Corvettes are unique to big block Corvettes and were not used for other applications.

As Bill mentioned, the Corvette p/s pump pulley was also unique to Corvette applications. Also, only one pulley was EVER used for any Corvette big block application with power steering all the way from 1965 through 1974. That pulley is a cast iron pulley of 2 groove configuration and of GM #3878245.
