How do I remove the two end frame oilers from the generator? Do I have to take the generator apart to remove the blind hole rivets that hold the gen. tag in place? Is the front frame actually aluminum? I saw that on an archived THREAD.

The end frame GITS oilers are pressed in, and the tag rivets are "drive screws" - they are pressed in from the outside, and can be removed with gentle prying; use a small, sharp chisel to get under the heads and start prying them up.- Top

Joe,
If you get a pair of diagonal pliers and close them on the oiler right below the shoulder on the oiler cup, you should be able to pry them out without damage. It sure looks nice with freshly plated oiler cups against freshly restored end frames! I would suggest not to use the original open style bearing as the sealed bearing will last a lifetime. The function of the cups will be only decorative at this point. You will probably find that the rivets that come with you tag are too loose in the original holes. You can take a little center punch and punch arround the holes in about 4 places to shrink the hole so that the rivets go in tight. I still err to the side of safety and put a little 5 min epoxy on the back of the tag.
