    C-2 Birdcage issue

I have a 67 that I have some birdcage problems with. A previous message on last Saturday (19 Apr) and the responses to it gave me a lot of ideas. Plus several people emailed me direct with comments. I now know that CSC Reproductions does not make any of the 63-67 birdcage pieces and that I will have to get these lower and side windshield frame pieces from a donor car. Do any of you guys know of other members or vendors that have 63-67 cars they are parting out? I have a line on one person that actually has a coupe and a conv that he is parting out - he's offering up either cowl. I'd like to do a little bit of comparison shopping before I make a final decision. Names and numbers would be greatly appreciated.

Robert, Just a word of advice. Bird cage rot work and replacement can become very involved. There are differences in the AO Smith bodies and St Louis bodies. This is very noticeable more on coupes more than convert/hard tops. If you have a coupe the height/width actual size of the doors and opens are different between AO Smith and St Louis. So use care in selecting donor car parts. The only portion of the birdcage that I have had success repairing without any detection was the lower u-shaped rail that sits around the frame. Anything around the coupe door opening requires butchering up the body fiberglass. Any rewlding you need to do in this area is not well received by the fiberglass. This destruction is then followed by matting and rosin. Again very difficult to perform the repair so it appears untouched. Good luck

Thanks. My rot is across lower windshield and the lower corners of windshield. I need to replace those three pieces to provide a lip for the windshield. I do, in fact have a coupe and this is the only rust on the entire car, to include the main frame. The A-pillars below the two corners are good as is the rest of the birdcage. A leaking windshield is what has caused my problem. Didn't know this until dashboard was removed to reveal the rot. When windshield was removed, it revealed that the piece had to be replaced - not repaired. But surprisingly, no other damage was done (as if that's not enough!). Do you know of anyone that has a donor?
