    AC receiver-dryer on a 75

I tried looking in the archives, nothing. I'm going to be trouble shooting the AC soon as part of the resurrection. And I read with interest the use of "Forane ???" as a cheaper debugging of the system. The one that really interests me is the receiver dryer rebuild(?). I noticed that it appeared to be screwed together. Is there a kit, or place to get the materials, and what are they?

    TIA Jim

    Jim----

To begin with, let me say that A/C systems and components are not an area of particular expertise for me. However, I will offer this: 1973 thru mid-77 Corvettes used a VIR valve-based system and not a traditional drier/accumulator as used on earlier and later Corvettes. The VIR valve can be disassembled but no internal components are currently available from GM. As far as I know, with the exception of a dessicant kit available from Ecklers and others, internal parts are not otherwise available. Anyway, if there are sources for internal components, I am unaware of them. The last GM service assembly, GM#9956810, has been discontinued for quite some time. Complete rebuilt VIR valves are available from most of the Corvette vendors for about $165. Also, a VIR valve or major component thereof MAY be available through the Delco parts system under Delco #15-5261.

Thanks for the response, Eckler's does show the V.I.R. valve, but no dessicant kit. I'll look more.
