C2- 67 Park brake handle knob

Has anyone ever tried to replace just the release knob on the emergency brake handle? My original handle has the chrome strip on the black section and the replacement(NOS) handle I picked up does not. I would like to transfer just the button from one to the other. Any ideas? Thank you in advance for your assistance.

I believe that your 67 handle is like my 69. I've taken a few apart, in a futile attempt to find somebody to rechrome the plastic pieces. Basically, you have to tap out the tension pins on the bottom of the metal part of the handle. You can then slide the main plastic handle "back" and then "pull" the button with its' rod forward. The button presses/screws onto the release rod. Once the button is off, you can then pull the entire plastic handle off. It's a PIA job. Chuck
