Correct Water Pump # for 57'

I would like to know the correct water pump number for a 57'. I have been told it is 3738493. Any suggestions where to find one? New, Used, or Rebuilt.

The correct casting number is GM #3736493. This casting was used for all 1957 Corvettes as well as 58-60. It was also used for all 1957-60 Chevrolets with small block engine. These castings were not dated, so that's not an "issue".

The 3763493 casting is not particularly rare due to it's wide useage, but it's getting "rarer" all the time. I think that John Pirkle or Paul Baker at Goat Hill Classics in Long Beach, CA could likely fix you up with one.

Addendum

By the way, I should have mentioned that this casting was produced in both Saginaw and Tonawanda "styles". The Tonawanda style had two reinforcing ribs on the driver's side of the casting. The Saginaw (Flint) casting had no ribs, You want the Saginaw, no-rib style.
