    59 trunk crayon marks!

    Hi guys,

I have finaly gotten around to scraping off the paint on the trunk to gas tank dividing wall and have discovered the word "IVORY" in the green wax crayon.

Now I know that I should remember, but does this marking indicate body or interior colour?

Also I don't believe that "Ivory" was a designated colour for either body or interior in any 58-60 cars so what does this mean????

I'm presuming that it means "Snowcrest White" or "Classic Cream" if this is indeed a 59.

Any help appreciated as allways, Mark.

I have seen some too. Heard many stories. I cannot confirm this but there is a retired GM executive, Hinkster or something like that who allegedly brought his kids to work sometimes. He was there with ZAD who had no kids to speak of.

Mark - Ivory designates Snowcrest White exterior color. It does not speak to interior color or cove color (If optional silver was ordered). Best, Dennis

          Re: Snowcrest White

          Thanks Guys,

The car was black with black interior when I bought it.

I discovered that the interior was previously red as under the instruments etc was red.

Now I have sanded the trunk area and found the red and white paint thus this confirms the red interior and the white paint remnants and crayon marks confirm the snowcrest white exterior.

At first I suspected it may have been white as white was the last of a few colours that came off when stripping but a lot of the guys have said that the release agent was white and remained.

I presumed then that the car was Black as the trunk and convertible top area were black but I now know that the car was white with a red interior.

This is of course ironic as I originaly wanted to paint it white but was put off by too many negitive comments about white.

Anyway not too much of a problem as the car isn't too original with a 69 Vette 350/350 and muncie and I have painted it a VERY non stock colour but if I had have known earlier I would have painted it white.
