    '62 (C1) Fuse Box/Junction Block

How is the fuse box attached to the firewall in a '62? It popped off the other day when I was forcefully removing a stuck fuse.

    1. The AIM shows 1 3776200 "screw" attaching it to the firewall. Anybody know the size of a 3776200 screw? (It's not listed in my parts book.)

    2. Should there be 1 or 2 screws? There are 2 there now, but the AIM only shows 1.

    3. Do the screws go through the insulation and into the fiberglass firewall? Right now, they only go into the cardboard insulation, which doesn't look right, which is why I want to know their size.

Chris; If I can remember, I think there are 2 screw's that have a 3/8 head on them. One is in the upper left the other in the lower right. I think they were at least 1 1/4 to 1 1/2 long. They went into the fiberglass firewall, I don't think there was a metal plate. Open for any correction guy's. john

The second screw is locaded behind the lower fuse in the fuseblock. You have to remove the fuse to remove/install the screw. If you look carefully from the engine side you will see a metal reinforcement that has been rivited to the bode. The mat goes around the fusebox, the screws do not go through the mat. there is a small gasket between the fiberglass and the part of the junction block that goes through to the engine compartment

        Chris...

On a 61' the two Screws are hex/shoulder formed and have a thread relief/squared end. They are exposed on the firewall side after mounting. The insulation has two holes that allows the foot pads on the junction box to rest right on the firewall. By the way, some new junction boxes have extra length pads and require some removal for the screws to tighten up properly.
