    C1 Stainless Gas Tank

I seem to remember a few years ago seeing a stainless tank being sold for C1 cars. Does anyone know if there is any vendor selling such a tank today?

There sure is. One that I know of is Dr. Rebuild. I love the idea of a stainless steel fuel tank. If one was available for 63-74 style tanks, I'd give it careful consideration.

      Thanks Joe,
I need a tank for my 59 that will allow me to weld a return line to it for the ultra-rare electronic fuel injection unit that was used on the optional LS1 engine option! lol I knew that welding on the original tinned tank would not work well.

There is a company in Illinois called Rock Valley. They offer stainless steel tanks for almost anything including 53-67 vettes. Not original in appearance though. They will even set it up for you with an in tank pump for an EFI engine. The number is 800-344-1934. Hope you find what you need!

I forgot to mention that if all you need to do is fit the return line, there is a drain plug on the bottom of the tank that is a 1/8 NPT thread. This should work quite nicely. Good motor choice by the way!

            Thanks Kris,
They sound like just the kind of place I am looking for! I may even consider putting one in my 60. I used the original tank in it and have regretted it since day one. I have to clean my fuel filter about every week or two! I am not sure that enough of the tank shows to make any difference. There are only two access holes under the car that the tank can be viewed through. While I know that a real nice tinned repro tank with all the correct markings is available, I am not sure that it makes any difference once the tank is enclosed in it's compartment. I know that either tank will be the last one I will ever buy, there is an appeal to a tank that will not rust!

              John,

If you drive the car regularly you won't have to worry about the tank rusting out.

Take it out every day! :-)
