    1966 AIM help needed

In the version I'm using to create another database, I cannot read the following two pages and I need some help.

    UPC C60, Sheet A4, Items 1-11
    UPC C60, Sheet C2, Items 1-7

These pages of part numbers are just too blurry to read.

Re: What is "height" shown in AIM

I'm getting ready to drop my body back on the chassis and I went to the AIM for my 65. I went to the section that shows dimensions from center and various data lines on the body. One colunm is labeled "height" what is the height taken from? Ground? Can the table shown be used to determine correct ride height? Is it possible to take a measurement at a front body line and a rear body line and knowing the difference determine if the vehicle is riding at the correct height. Jerry

Re: What is "height" shown in AIM

            Jerry -

No, you can't - the grid system shown in the A.I.M. is derived from the GM Universal Body Grid Measurement System, which is based on body design datum references only - doesn't relate to the chassis at all; it's intended for 3-axis measurement of body points and surfaces with the body set up on a surface plate (C.M.M. machine these days).

Ride height (more properly called suspension height) is shown in UPC 3 and UPC 4 of the A.I.M., and is the difference between two measurements at each corner, which essentially tells you how compressed the springs are vs. spec (to eliminate the effect of differing tire sizes). At the front it's the difference between the centerline of the lower control arm inner bushing and the lowest point of the steering knuckle, both taken to ground; at the rear it's the difference between the inner and outer bushing centerlines for the camber struts to ground. The spec is the "loaded design height" of the suspension at curb weight relative to its design travel between jounce and rebound. If the (difference) number is below spec, the springs have lost rate or height (sagged); if the number is above spec, the spring rates and/or heights are above design spec for the car.
