dear sirs; i'm thinking of purchasing a very nice 67 coupe. it's been frame-offed. all numbers seem to be correct with the exception of the build date. the trim tag reads...C27. this translates to oct.27,1966, right? well, when i go to the n.c.r.s. web site for the wisconsin chapter and click on "birthday calendar" it sends me back an answer of oct.18,1966. how could the car have been built before the trim tag date? is this a bogus car or is there an explaination for the descrepancy? thanks!!!!!!!

Re: C2...birthday for 67 coupe????
Kevin - you are right that there is no way the trim (body) build date can be after the car asm date...you didn't comment on your VIN number, unless there is an error in the Wisconsin site, I did check my 67 on it and it matched the regular birthday book..something sounds fishy to me...Craig- Top

Re: C2...birthday for 67 coupe????
Kevin, there was a strike at GM that lasted about 10 days, that throws off the B-day book for Oct '66 cars. My car is a C-26, vin# 23xx. I would not let the date be the only judge of whether the car is original or not. Lots of other things you can look at to see if it's for real. What about any previous owner history? Build sheet?
Good Luck

Re: C2...birthday for 67 coupe????
hey dave, the strike would explain everything. 3 previous owners, which are all of older age, such as myself, verify that the car is real as does the tank sticker. it's only a 300h.p. car, but now a days one can't be too careful.thanks!!!- Top

Re: C2...birthday for 67 coupe????
Factoring in the effect of the strike, the last unit produced on October 3rd was #2225, and production resumed on October 26th, with the last unit produced on that day being #2340 (according to the latest update sheet for the "Birthday Book").- Top
