C2 Unusual part need

Years ago the 63 convertible I have was hit on the left side at the hinge post. Parts damaged included the fiberglass oval shaped enclosure for the fresh air vent door. It is the approximate shape of the vent door and a little larger. This part is not included on any of the replacement plenum pieces I have found. The repair that was done just placed the grille over the open hole. I would like to be able to install the vent correctly and am unable to locate this part. Anyone know where the is a mid-year salvage yard or other source for seldom sought after parts? Thanx for any help.

You might try Paragon, I think I saw where they have a small resting place for Corvettes that will not be on the road again.

The part you need was originally GM #3797314. This part was discontinued from SERVICE in May, 1967 and replaced by GM #3899220. Unfortunately, the latter piece was discontinued, too, about 20 years ago.

This is an item that you should be able to find without too much difficulty in a Corvette salvage yard. It's not a wear item and it doesn't corrode away.

I would check with a used Corvette parts source like Pacific Corvette of Puyallup, WA. They are one of the few, if only, Corvette wrecking yards that inventory their used parts by the original part number. So, a simple phone call with the part number and they can tell you if they have it. Either part number will work for you.
