Has anyone purchased a tire (other than Coker) for a spare on a regular brake '62? I currently have 205-70R-15s but found that to be too thick for spare tire compartment. Any help is greatly appreciated.

Re: C-1 Spare Tire
Don... My experience has been that bias reproduction or todays equivilent size radial will not fit correctly in the spare well because the section width is too great. For judging occasions, I have heard that some members have actually reduced the tire pressure enough that the fit would become tolerable... Incredible, but true !!!- Top

Re: C-1 Spare Tire
I was lucky and found a new 6.40/15 (no typo on size) at a used tire place. I would guess it was mfg'd late 70's but stored inside with no dry rot.Perfect fit in my 56's spare tire well ( after I removed all the liquid pork chops). I also found a new 195/75-15 at the same place that I use as a spare in my mid year.- Top

NCRS Publications
I'm afraid I can't offer anything but another question on this. I replaced the tires on my '60 this week with Coker radials and kept one of the 670x15s for a spare. It doesn't fit either! -- even though that's supposed to be the original size. Maybe the spare is meant to be flat?- Top

Re: NCRS Publications
When I put radials on my '57, I used one of my repro BFG Silvertown bias-ply 6.70-15 "judging" tires as my spare - the diameter fit fine, but it did raise the cover to about 1/4" above flush with the trunk floor.- Top
