OK, this is funny....
...but after I read all these threads, I kinda got the idea that (A)an NOS part is out of the question, as I haven't bought a lottery ticket in a long time, and (B) since my car is a bit far from being judged this year, I think Paragon will make a few bucks off of me this time. But I gotta tell you...
Reading the post about possibly spray-painting the filter got me kinda thinking....and then I walked into our kitchen to get a glass of water. We have just moved, and there on the counter was the PAAS Easter Egg Coloring kit from Easter, tucked back behind a box. And, lo and behold, it had a couple of those yellow fizzy tablets you mix with the vinegar left! I just changed the oil and air filter on my John Deere yesterday, so I grabbed the old filter out of the garbage. 3/4 of it was filthy, but the area that faces away from the ducts in the air cleaner was still kinda white.....so, I mixed up a concoction of vinegar and yellow fizzy tablet, watered it down a bit to mellow the yellow, and poured it into my salad bowl. I dipped the filter in, and let it soak for a few minutes....pulled it out, and it is definitely more yellow than before! It's drying out in the garage right now....grabbed a smoke a few min. ago, hasn't seemed to have faded. I have no idea how long, or IF it will last, but hey, it was fun and so far, it seems to be working!! Now if somebody will loan me an original so I can get the shade of yellow correct....
