    69 Windshield Washer Pump

My washer system is rather lethargic. I think its a result of the internal piston seal being worn. Can someone tell me where I can purchase this item? The local auto parts store carries the basic rebuild kit but this o-ring type seal is not included.

    Thanks,

The piston seal was never available from GM as a seperate part. It was available only as part of the pump assembly or the piston assembly. The piston assemblies are no longer available seperately. I don't know of any source for the piston seals. However, you can purchase a new pump assembly (they are not terribly expensive) and cannibalize it for whatever parts you need.

Thanks for the input. Any suggestions as to where to purchase a donor pump? What part number should I be looking for to get the correct piston seal.

Most of the auto parts stores sell pumps. I just had to replace the one on my 77 Buick. It is close to the original but originality in this Buick was not an issue. You could buy the pump, take the gasket out and use the parts as needed.

I like Gary's idea of a parts store pump. This is likely to be most economical. However, inspect the pump you get carefully prior to diassembly to see if the components look about the same size-wise.

The last GM pump that I know would have had the correct components is discontinued. The current pump, GM #12494836, may or may not have components interchangeable with your pump. Plus, it GM lists for about 75 bucks, so it's an expensive way to get a few small parts.
