    C3 Radial Tires

I've searched the archives and haven't found the information that I am looking for regarding putting radial tires on my 1969 corvette. I want to stay with the correct size red stripe. I am looking at using 215/70x15 which appears to be as close as possible to F70x15. Has anyone mounted this size tire on 8" wide rims? Diamond Back Classics is the only offering I've found with 215/70x15 and red stripe. I'm looking at their DB Supreme tire. Has anyone had dealings with Diamond Back Classics, this tire specifically and/or know of any other potential options for radials with red stripe in 215/70x15 size? As always, thanks in advance for any information.

    Ted----

The 215 X 15 size will fit perfectly on your 69 stock wheels and will fit perfectly on the car. There are not too many options when you combine the desire for both radial tires and red stripes. I believe that Patrick Hulst has used the tires you mentioned. Perhaps, he can offer comments regarding them.

      Ted,

I have P215 70R15 radials on my 1970 Corvette. They are mounted on 8" wide rally rims. These are my everyday driving tires. I have original style Speedways on the original rims for shows. I am not aware of other radials available with red stripes in that size. Perhaps others will be able to help you out.

        Joe,

        Correct you are (as usual).

I have had the tires from Diamondback on my car for three years now. I really do like them, especially for around-town everyday driving (like I did today).

Realize that Diamonback doesn't really make the tires. They use tires from other manufacturers, and then vulcanize a new stripe into the side of the tire. It seems to hold up quite well, and they look very good once you receive them.

See a picture of them in the link below. If you need more information, feel free to contact me.

Patrick - does Diamondback vulcanize the gold line in too for a 66? Just curious, sounds better than the pie section look on the Coker redlines on my 67...Craig

This sounds like a great approach for a regularly driven car. Any idea what tire they start with?

                  Dayton's Daytona SR.

It's one of the Bridgestone/Firestone brands.

                    Re: C3 Radial Tires

Thanks to all for your input. I currently have Speedways on a set of original rims. I also want to use the radial tires on a second set of rims for driving. Where is the best place to get a second set of correct rally rims? Thanks
