Re: C2 Underdash Insulation
i have used the 3-m adhesive, Super Trim Adhesive pn 08090, to fasten the jute to the underside of the firewall/ cowl for years and an old 67 i did in the early 80's is still hanging in there. 08090 comes in an 18 oz aerosol can, is easy to spray on( do both surfaces ) and make sure the jute is correctly positioned on the the first attempt as the jute and adhesive are unforgiving if you mal-position the assembly and try to remove to reposition. As far as the jute-backed cardboard set is concerned, I've never had to seperate any of the pieces i recieved from Vet. Prod. Mich . The peices were pre cut and didn't require any cutting or seperation.Call the supplier before taking an Exacto knife to what you've got. good luck, mike- Top

Re: C2 Underdash Insulation
PS. those mushroom shaped fasteners that hold the jute backed cardboard to the firewall will be easier to install if you take an old cheap phillips screw driver, point it(no sharp point, just rounded off so to speak) in a grinder then lubricate the rubber mushroom with liquid soap before attempting to force it thru the cardboard and fiberglass of the firewall. The guys who supply the cardboards ought to include several extra mushrooms as I usuallly end up puncturing a couple of them before finishing the job. I always look foreward to installing the firewall insulation, as its the first job when an old vet leaves the disassembly phase and enters the reassembly phase. good luck, mike- Top

C2 Underdash Insulation Tool
To make a nearly foolproof tool to install the mushroom fasteners, Gring an old phillips screwdriver as Mike described and the solder a fender washer on it so that the screwdriver extends thru the washer about 1/4 inch longer than the hole in the fastener. This helps prevent poking a hole thru the end of the fastener when you install it. The tool that I used was a straight pegboard "hook" clamped in visegrips with a fender washer.- Top
