I need help on my restoration...the problem is that the upper push rod on the clutch is at the end of its adjustment travel, instead of the middle portion. The pedal free travel is at 1 1/2" but the pedal is staggered compared to the power brake pedal. I have done a lot of work in this area and am convinced I have done something wrong help me identify what it is. I have replaced the upper portion of the clutch pedal lever, you know the part that wollows out, I replaced the rubber stop and straightened it out, that part was bent and the rubber was crushed. I kept the original pushrod thru the firewall, the one with the steps on the end before the threads., I kept what I think is the original Z bar, no way to really know....It still had the red plastic plug in it. I found a NOS (p/n matched AIM) lower push rod with the two holes for the mounting of anti rattle springs. New arm and pivot, original bellhousing, new short throwout bearing and new centerforce clutch, resurfaced/balanced original flywheel. Why is the adjustement not in the center of the upper rod?

A couple of simple things that you have probably done already but I thought I would add this.
Does your clutch lever have two holes in it where it attaches to the clutch assembly? If you attach the lever to one set of the holes in the clutch assembly, you will get a lot of travel in the clutch. When attached correctly, it should be in approximate alignment with the brake pedal.
Also, make sure the "plate" that is on the clutch linkage side that the clutch lever is attached to is positioned correctly. It may have been inadvertently turned around while you were working on the car.- Top
