C3 Windsheild washer

I have tried everything with my limited mechanical knowledge to get my washers to work. All the lines are clear, filter in jar clear.The pump is working, or at least I hear it working. I have tried to prime it by pushing in and out on the module and yes there is fluid in the resevoir. Still no washers. Can some one here give me a few helpful hints?

The wipers function just great, I would really hate to have to replace the entire assembly for a mere 25 point deduct. Car is a 73 coupe with a/c, L-82.

Gregg,

Priming is a common problem with these systems. I use clean water only so when you suck on the line from the tank you don't get a mouthfull of washer fluid. Reconnect to the pump without allowing any air to enter. Be sure that suction line is full and hopefully that will solve your problem. Add the washer fluid after the system is operational. Another trick I use is to rub hand lotion onto the rubber parts(triple O ring, check valves and piston sleeve) if you have the pump apart. That seems to soften them a bit and allow them to seal a bit better.

If you make up a hose into a bottle and feed the pump from above it will help to get it primed( gravity flow to the pump). Drill hole in cap for hose and air hole in the bottom of a plastic bottle. If it starts working install hose to tank as it sets lower than the pump and makes priming harder with a dried out system. Good Luck
