Hi folks - I hope someone can help me. I am trying to restore a 64 vette convertible, 300 hp, no a/c, no power steering. According to assembly manual the voltage regulator goes on inside right fender wall - can't find any holes there to mount it - when I bought car the voltage regulator was mounted on radiator support, but the holes there do not fit the delco replacement regulator - any suggestions? Should I drill holes in fiberglass on right fender wall. I would appreciate any feedback - I tried calling the '64 specialist listed in NCRS magazine, and his number is disconnected. Thank you for advice and input. Wish me luck! Gina

Re: 64 vette - voltage reg
Gina,
I have a relatinve who is currently restoring a '64 and they have also encountered the problem you are describing. However, I do have bad news for you. The holes you seek are actually in your head. You need to connect the voltage regulator into your brain. Then all of your problems will be solved. Good luck!

Hello Gina,We have a low mileage 64 that still has its original voltage regulator. It is mounted on the right side of the radiator support, with three self tapping bolts. If you are planning on keeping your car original ,we would look for an original voltage regulator instead of drilling holes in your inner fender.Don #31753.....- Top

Re: 64 vette - voltage reg
Hello Gina; You might want to try John Pirkle in Georgia to find an "original" dated regulator for your car. He advertises in the Driveline. Both he and his son, John Jr. are super people. I'm surprised that the Delco replacement regulator holes don't line up on your radiator support. I think that your 64 uses a "515" regulator. I've bought several replacements over the years, and the holes always lined up. Hope that this helps. Chuck Gongloff1963 Corvette Conv. 327/360 NCRS Top Flight
