    Re: 1968 L-88 IN A BARN

    Ted-----

Well, it could be real. There is one "incongruity" that I notice, though. It has a radio block-off plate, but it also has an antenna bezel installed. Of course, someone could have added that after delivery. But, then why leave the radio block-off plate installed if you're going to add an antenna (with, presumably, a radio then installed)? Also, if someone added the antenna, then it looks like they did it in the exact location that the factory would have installed it and used a stock, 68-style Corvette antenna bezel. It's possible, of course, but it makes me wonder.

I notice that no documentation is offered with the car. They may have it, but I don't see it mentioned.

Still, why would someone, apparently years ago, create a bogus L-88 and then let it deteriorate away for years? Definitely, an enigma!

This item has been discussed for several days on the Corvette forum with the thread taking on the flavor of value! Not only is no documentation offered but only "six-pack" would bid without the benefit of an onsite inspection...as Joe has conveyed in recent posts.

            Poor approach to selling

My money is staying out of this one.

Gary Naber called on it last Sunday at my suggestion. Over the phone, the eBay seller wouldn't allow personal inspection or any discussion with the actual car owner, or even say where the car is located.

The seller refused to look to see if the tank sticker is there. "It might be there and it might not."

Most of his answers were along the lines of "this is what I was told about the car". Translation: I don't want to know the truth because my description might be BS.

Sold as-is, no guarantees, bid early and often, rare, wow, pay fast, and happy bidding.

What a crappy way to sell an old Corvette.

Hey.... I've got George Washington's original hatchet for sale. Sold as-is, no paperwork or guarantees of course.

You guys are great, now seriously I have an L-88 that Dick Guildstrand drove at Sebring and when he was not holding on to the shifter, his left hand was holding on to that very same George Washington manual cherry chopper, anyone interested?

Is that the one with the 36" shaft that

Dick also used as a sand iron when he played the infield course at Indianapolis and shot 59?
