I recently had to set the timeing on my 74 454. Motor seems to be running okay but I was not able to read the degree numbers and set it by sound. I know each peak and valley represents 2-degrees but since I can't read the numbers I had to quess at 10-degrees BTDC. Any ideas? Thanks

I don't understand why you can't read the numbers; they are immediately to the right of a short line adjacent to each "peak". Anyway, for a 74 454 the second "peak" from the bottom, or the 5th peak down from the top, is the "TDC" mark or "0". As you mention, each "peak" or "valley" represents 2 degrees. Marks above the "0", are BTDC(advanced) and the marks below "0" are ATDC(retarded). In Appreciation of John Hinckley- Top
