Does anyone know if the hole that the Ballast Resistor bolts through on the firewall requires an insert or does the bolt just thread through the fiberglass? The reason I am asking is appears that the hole in my firewall is wallowed out and oversized and I can't seem to get the bolt to snug up like I think it should. Any help would be appreciated.

Re: Ballast Resistor
Roy is correct. Its not at all uncommon for the hole in the fiberglass firewall to enlarge after many withdrawl/insertions of the pan head phillips fastner.Rather than glass the hole shut and redrilling, i have inserted a speed nut between the cockpit side of the firewall and the jute backed cardboard firewall insulation. usually the jute keeps the speed nut positioned until you can start the threads of the pan head screw into the speed nut. time consuming but no need to drag out the resin and cloth with its inherent clean up mess. good luck, mike- Top
