    66 L36 Spark plug wires.

I'm trying to install new/correct shielded BB spark plug wires in my 66 427/390 car. Thw AIM shows me which wires go to which distributor posts but I can't find anywhere which length wires go to which cylinders. This is important because I need to connect the ground strap from each wire to the grounding post on each side of the shielding and the different length wires don't seem to want to come to rest in the right place so that the ground connectors are in the right place. I've measured the wires and have 2 at 24 inches, 1 at 25 inches, 1 at 28 inches, 1 at 29 inches and 3 at 35 inches. From cylinders numbered 1 to 8, can someone tell me what length to each cylinder. Thanks.

the three longest go to 1, 2, and 3. two shortest go to7 & 8. 29" goes to 4, 28" goes to #6 and the 25" goes to #5. all this assumes you have Plug # 1 firing when the rotor is pointing to about the right front corner of the car. You will have to slid the braded groud strapping a bit to get then fastened . good luck mike

If you got them from Lectric Limited, they come with an instruction sheet that has the info that Mike just posted.

There are NO instructions with the wires I got from GM parts direct.....but that would have been good advice.

You must have bought real GM wires. They always were sold assuming the old wires were available on the car for comparision.
