C1 1962 colors

I just got the 61,62 Tech Manual and Judging guide in an attempt to learn something BEFORE purchasing (a novel concept) and the question is: Any way to determine original color/trim combination for a particular car? I'm assumming no, as there is no "trim tag", so without real documentation, is there any way to know? I understand the "legal" combinations as stated in the book.

Rich - You can pretty well determine the exterior color - but you have to remove the passenger seat and remove the paint from the fiberglass bulkhead behind the seat. Usually it will indicate RED or IVORY or whatever the body color was going to be. It will not indicate interior trim color. If it is going to a hard top only car, that would typically be indicated with and additional HT

Rich - These indications are typically written in capital letters with green crayon on the bare fiberglass. Dennis

frequently, a real careful examination of areas around the doors, under the dash, etc. will give you an indication of original color, especially f you can remove a door panel. Unless the car has been completely disassembled for paint, there will usually be some evidence left.
