    67' 327/350hp intake manifold.

The 67' 327/350hp aluminum intake was painted silver from the factory? What shade of silver would be acceptable for this?

Actually, there is a lot of discussion on this. Usually, the manifold is only painted near the valve covers to hit the mounting bolts and any bare cast iron on the heads. As far as the shade, I am open to suggestions too, it would be nice to find a brand and shade that is at least gas resistant if not gas proof...Craig

I gave up on trying to keep my L-79 painted manifold looking presentable. I took it off, stripped the paint, had it reskinned and didn't repaint it. Now it looks nice all the time. Patrick

Patrick - I plan to do this with my 66 L72, and if I ever take the 490 of my 67 L79, it will get the same. I hate the way they stain....Craig

What is the casting number on the 1967 aluminum intake?

Thanks Clem. Are there many of them out there?

3890490's are on Ebay frequently too, just look carefully at the condition of the units from the pictures. They are all over at Bloomington and Carlisle if you make it to either show. You can get some very clean units from David Crane at Crane's covettes in San Diego too, but you have to put up with David during the transaction...he is a bit hyper, but seems honest albeit not cheap. I bought a pristine 490 from him about 3 years ago for $325, but it looked almost NOS condition. Many get very corroded around the thermostat housing, and some folks mess up the finish on the top also...Craig

Thanks. I will check EBay. I am not familiar with David Crane but will try to contact him.
