Gas door lids were issued by GM as nors pieces in the late 60's. Also , the aftermarket guys were reproducing them by mid 70's. Sounds like you have either of the above.regards, mike

Could you tell me what your production number (last six digits of your VIN) is or your build date from your trim tag? I have done a lot of research on this very subject over a two year period and would be glad to impart what I have learned. If you could send me your email address it would be easier as what I have found is very lenghty.

Peter - You might want to check out Noland Adam's book (page 332) regarding the configuration of the flag colors on the '66 Corvette gas door. I was hoping to add more support but S/N 25305 which is in boxes has a gas door w/ the white square in the upper corner. Pete

Peter - Great find - Noland Adams pg 332 - I'm now satisfied that correct original could be black or white depending on production - given the potential of either being correct - curious as to why the judging manual would take such a finite position of white or nothing. Do you think this is an item that should be reconsidered? It is a real shame when a known original piece should be removed for a "correct" repro to judge correct !
