I just replaced the the brass heater shut-off switch with an "exact" repro from LIC. Also replaced the vacuum hoses with over-the-counter hose to make sure I wouldn't have to take the glove box out again. Problem is, I can hear a vacuum hiss from the switch whenever the car is running. Doesn't matter if the heater knob is in or out, just get a different pitch hiss.
When I took the old vac hoses out (they looked very original to me), I noticed two small metal in-line butt connectors in the small dia hose. One just a few inches down stream of the vac switch, and another just in front of the water shut-off valve. I figured someone was just trying to make short ends of hose work by butting pieces together. Now in retrospect, these connectors would
tend to neck-down the inside diameter of the hose. Just wondering if these are supposed to be there to lessen the vac to the valve, and if not having them would cause the hiss I'm hearing - or is the brass valve just funky?
