1966 wiper inserts

Hello, just got back from the Wisconscin chapter meet. Well run and great people.

I purchased a set of "NOS" wiper inserts from John Pirkle only to take a deduction for them. What type of wiper should my Oct 20 1965 built car have ribbed or dots or some comination of both. Aain, thanks in advance.

Sorry to hear about your misfortune. Possibly a misinformed judge, or a miscommunication. John Pirkle is, in my opinion, honest and meticulous to detail. I 'm almost certain that the dotted inserts were used for 1966, and not changed until 1967.

Jon - I trust you have additional information or comments from the judges regarding the deduction? First of all, does your car have ANCO or TRICO windshield wiper holders? As you might guess if has ANCO holders, the judge sould be looking for ANCO inserts and if they are TRICO, the judge should be looking for TRICO inserts. Since we're talking "dots," I'm assuming the car has TRICO holders. That being the case I would expect TRICO inserts with the 3 horizonal ribs running the length of the insert and the Latch-Lock clip on the one end to secure the insert in the holder.

In addition, based on your experience perhaps the 1966 Technical Information Guide and Judging Manual is not as explicit as it should be regarding the configutaion of the rubber insert or refill. Please let Ray Morrision know so we can revise the manual as needed. Pete
