    C2-Spark plug wire routing/supports

My '65 was missing several pieces of its ignition shielding when I bought it last year, specifically the two clips that mount on the pan. I have found original clips, but I'm not sure on which of the pan bolts they mount. My questions are:

    a) Do the "V" shields only contain plug wires #1 and #3 (left) and #2 and #4 (right)?

    b) On which pan bolts do the U-shaped clips mount?

    c) Which plug wires do these U-shaped clips support?

Thanks for any help in solving this problem for me.

    Mark:

Enjoy your '65---I'm kinda partial to that model year myself. The "V" shields only protect the forward 2 wires on each bank, which are, as you stated 1,3,2,4. The clips each capture 2 wires (1&3--2&4), and are positioned within the apex of each "V" shield. I cannot say which pan bolt the clips are mounted to, but will become apparent when the shields are fitted to the block. Good luck, and be patient when fishing those 4 wires thru the motor mounts. The easiest way is to remove the distributor boots, otherwise you'll find it almost impossible to get them through.

Through the motor mounts? Is there a picture of this in the AIM? I am not sure how this goes.

        Thanks.

Yes, the wires go in the spsce between the motor mount and the Block. If you have to, remove the boot from the distributor end and work the wire thru that way, (top to bottom) then replace the boot on the wire.

I generally don't do the right thing on my car, but this time I did. With the engine out, I fitted the plug shields and the "V" shields, and ran the front two plug wires for each side through the "V" shields, before I attached the engine mount pads. This made matters much more simple. Now that the engine is in place, I'll add the U-shaped clips to the pan.

            Thanks for your input,

            Mark
