my 64 has a "dead" ammeter. but, but, but, it is not really dead. if i place a
2 volt battery across the ammeter terminals, i get a 25 "amp" deflection. reversing this reverses the deflection. so, i think the meter is ok.
next, if i turn the key to the "on" position, but with the engine off, i get the following two voltage readings at the wires going to the meter: 12.4; 11.9. these values are approximate but close. in other words, the voltage difference is not great enough to deflect the meter.
my question is: do any of you have readings from the two wires that enter your meter so i can compare??? i guess things are ok and the meeter jsut lacks sensitivity, but you never know. the resistance across the terminals is about 500 milliohms.
