Re: C3 fan shroud /Rad. removal
Tom,
I don't know if there is an easier way, but I removed mine by unbolting the upper a-frame cross shafts and the tapping out the cross shaft bolts. The a-frames will swing out of the way making it possible to lift the shroud and radiator out as a unit. Just make sure the car has jack stands under the lower a-frames. Record the number and location of the shims for reassemly.

Re: C3 fan shroud /Rad. removal
On my original owner 70 with air and big ole copper radiator my shroud is a two piece unit. The bottom rear piece of the shroud comes out easy. I remove the upper control arm and bolts from the frame by supporting the lower control arm under the shock mount area. The upper control arm will freely relocate into the fender well. The shroud will them lift out and permit easy removal of the radiator. The drivers side control arm is not distrubed. Tape your alignment shims together and mark front and rear for replacement. The bolts that retain the upper control are have serated edges which retain them in the frame and keep them from turning in the frame. I always remove the right front tire to give more access in reinstalling the frame bolts. The front serated bolt is the hardest to remove with the shroud in place, I can usually get the upper control arm off without removing it and will them remove it later for easier installation of the control arm when the radiator and shroud are reinstalled.- Top

Radiator shroud removal
If it's still a one piece shroud you need to remove the radiator first or along with the shroud like a sandwich. Get a helper and manhandle that rad from both sides and you won't need to remove the hood either. You only need to twist and manipulate the radiator enough so that the lower hose pipe on the rad will dip under/around and clear that upper A-arm. Good luck
