1978 Power Antenna

I need to replace the power antenna on my ' 78 for the second time. The first replacement unit was less than satisfactory for after it was installed - by a reputable radio shop - it stopped about 1" above the fender.

Can anyone direct me to a good source for a new antenna?

Does NCRS rate places like Ecklers, Mid America etc as to the quality and integrity of their parts for restoration?

I had my 78 power antenna rebuilt by a small group but I'll have to look around...got em out of Driveline over five years ago. Did a very nice job.

NCRS doesn't rate the quality of parts or its vendor. ON the judging field, the part stands on its own merit on the basis of originality and condition. For example, if the octagonal tip on a CB power antenna is proportionally not consistent with what is typically seen...it may earn a minor deduction on the basis of originality. Think I've got that right.

Or, the round tip on a power antenna on rebuilds tend to be larger...may earn a minor deduct on the basis of originality...depending on the judges's knowledge and perspective.

Equally important, does it operate as designed? The antenna should collapse when either the ignition is turned off or the radio is turned off.

Anyway...hope this helps. I'll dig around for that vendor if interested.

Any help would be appreciated, but as the original is now gone it would also help to know if this supplier/rebuilder can sell a rebuilt original.
