Does anyone know of a supplier for a compressor guard for the A-6 AC compressor. Guard prevents compressor oil from being slung on the hood.? I've tried all the major suppliers.

Re: c2 compressor guard
Wish I had a digital camera so I could send you a picture of one I made for my 70's compressor. I took two metal straps that was used by GM when my ZZ engine was shipped and a piece of regular ole aluminum flashing. I bent the metal straps to form the framework to bolt to the compressor in two different locations and then pop riveted the flashing to the braces. I trimmed the flashing so there were rounded corners and then primed it with Dupont 215S acrylic primer and them painted it with semi-flat spray paint. To me it don't look to bad, and for sure it does the job. My ole original compressor is now over 33 years old and still keeping me cool. Have to recharge it with about 1/2 pound or so of R12 every summer.- Top

Re: c2 compressor guard
Thanks Jim,
I guess I'll have to make one too! how far does it extend over the clutch? over the belt too? looks like belt " fuzz" also gets slung or maybe that's where the compressor oil slings from.
I have a rebuilt compressor and a fresh repaint on the hood bottom and the compressor rebuilder said " they all leak a little"- Top

Re: c2 compressor guard
Randy my homebuilt guard is about 4 1/2 inches wide from the compressor to the front of the car and the total one piece length is 12 inches. I actuall have three braces. Two top braces from the top two compressor mounting bolts and the third one is the bottom compressor bolt where my ground wire is connected on my 70. I saw a GM car years ago that came from the factory with a oil guard mounted on the compressor. I believe it was a big Buick, but could of been an Oldsmobile. Had never seen one factory built before. Good luck.- Top
