    muncie leaking?

I'm still trying to track down my oil leak. I've got the trans pulled away from the bellhousing and it does have a lot of oil on the face of the trans. From the looks of things I'd say the trans is leaking up front but the oil doesn't smell like the gear oil I drained from the trans. Does it make sense that the oil would smell different once it has leaked from the front of the trans? Next I'm going to pull the bellhousing and see what things look like behind the flywheel. From what I can see now, the flywheel and pressure plate look dry.

Jack - the oil will not change odor due to leaking, but the area you describe is highly indicative of a weeping and egg shaped hole in the maincase. If this proves to be the problem, it can be bushed to correct the problem...Craig

Sounds like the trans. front cover seal leaking that the throw-out bearing rides on.
