michelin X's . An all season tire. Handles wet surface roads well. A "real world - pragmatic tire that closely resembles the original tires. 205x75-15 narrow white wall . Granted they are not speed rated but just how fast do you drive ? My $0.02.
Joe,
I have a set of Michelins on my 70 and they have a narrow whitewall and look and act real fine on the car. They weren't as cheap as some but there isn't a lot to choose from if you want a narrow white stripe. Thinking of tires, I also have a beautiful set of red walls that I purchased from Diamondback Classics on my 67. They just barely rub the fender lip at times when the car is going up or down a driveway sometimes. From what I understand the rubbing will not be a problem on the earlier mid years. That was the talk a couple of weeks back on this forum. They are almost new, (150 miles maybe), and they look good but if I could let them go, eat the loss, and go 1 size smaller I would be happy to replace them with another set of D Back Red lines. If they would work for you let me know. My Email is grung3@inil.com

If you want to stay close to OEM - then Goodyear Regatta II's in 205/75R-15 will do just fine! Have the narrow white wall and are cheaper than the Michellins - same ratings if not better than the Michellins
Thanks for all the great info! Now to make a choice! I would prefer to stay with an OEM or close size to eliminate any damage to my car. After all this time and effort I would hate to bust or scrape something. Thanks again!
I went with Firestone FR440 white walls on my 67 and they look pretty good on my rally wheels. They are 205/75. This was about as close as I could find to a "correct" OEM white wall radial for a'67. The side wall is cleaner than the Regatta and other contemporary tires with all of the fancy "graphics" molded in. They are not performance tires but then I don't really flog the chassis that much anymore, and they cruise ok at 75-80 mph. They were not very expensive either so that left $ for other parts!!
