    Joe and Jack,

    Thanks for your sound advice! It was timely (never too late). I purposely did not replace either bearing sets as I did not have a press handy. With 95k on the odometer, I figured brushes were the most likely warn part. After the show in Pittsburgh this weekend I will plan on rebuilding the alternator once again only with the GM parts that Joe Lucia so kindly provided rather than the Made in China parts that came with the cheap rebuild kit.
