    Judging Question

    Hello all,
My question involes the events surrounding having your car judged. Simply put is a local Chapter meet of the NCRS any different than taking my car to a Regional meet and so on? Will a Top Flight, Second Flight, etc. be any less significant the further down the ladder of NCRS judging meets you go? I appreciate all of your imput. If I offend anyone by lessing the significant of a Chapter meet I apologize in advance. This isn't my intent.
    Regards,

    Re: Judging Question

best to start out at a local judging event, especially if its the first time you've had a car judged in NCRS. For one thing, chapter events are usually VERY local whereas the regionals can be 2000 miles or more from your home. Once you've had it judged at a chapter event, you can take the car home and correct the incorrect aspects. Also the score you recieve at the chapter will give you the data you'll need to dtermine how much its gonna cost to play on a regional or national level. Most of the time the car can be brought up to the judging level you want without too much money or labor or time(lot of this depends on whether you or a restoration shop is doing the improvements). You ask if there is anydifference in the quality of judging at local vs regional/ national levels and there is in that the most experienced and knowledgable judges will be at the nationals, hence they may pick up more problem areas of your vet than the local judges(by the way, some chapter meets I've been to have judges of national caliber) Its been my experience that a vet scoring 99 at a regional event will drop to 98 at the national convention(with no changes occuring between the two events)Get involved locally-its the people that matter.Mike

      Re: Judging Question

      Craig,

Can't say enough about going to a Chapter event first. I'm a real novice, having just finished my first Regional, but you may have a lot more face time with the judges at a Chapter event. It depends on how many cars are being judged. My first time was at a Chapter event last year, I had the only 82, and the additional time I spent with the judges was really worth it. I learned a LOT! Then I was able to take those score sheets and use them as a check list for the Regional.

But either way you go, the judging sheets looked the same, same points, etc, so get a judging manual, and go ahead and enjoy yourself!
