C-1 Hood latches

Hello all,

What color are the hood latches on a 62. Mine are painted black. I don't belive this to be right. Any help?

Initially, the latches were "gold" cadmium plated, however, were in place when the engine compartment black-out paint was sprayed. The amount of black they received probably varied from car to car - from all black to light over-spray.

Dennis, Thanks for the info. The "black-out" paint was flat black right?

More like a semigloss or "satin" finish, not at all a flat black

Cool Thanks for the tips. I have alot of work to do! The guy before me used a paint brush on the engine compartment! What a bone head! Lots of clean-up to do. But it's fun! And I learn alot here.

Skip - Krylon 1613, now 16132, will usually keep the dogs on the porch. Rattle can stuff - I apply it fairly heavy "wet"...

My 2 cents worth. Believe most/all C1 male hood mounted stuff was silver cad. Think some 58/60 firewall mounted stuff was gold/silver combo. If all this is not an obsession, don't replate it - just paint it - black...
