What would be the ideal detailing chemical cleaner for under the hood, and undercarriage on a midyear.Soap and water just doesn't cut the road grime and grease, and products like WD-40 dissolve the asphalt base frame coating, which we have also found on the firewall .Thanks !!!!

Re: Midyear Detailing Chemicals
I've had good luck with Simple Green, available in spray bottles or in a gallon "jug" size. Do not spray Simple Green on a hot engine. It should be cool. Let the car sit overnight and push it out of the garage. The only problem that I have encountered is that Simple Green tends to dissolve the glue which holds various decals under the hood. It also works well on the chassis, and has a rather pleasant smell too. It will also dry without spots. Hope this helps. Chuck1963 Corvette Conv. 327/360 NCRS Top Flight
