    C2 '66 hubcaps

I'm working with my buddy on a few odds-and-ends "clean-up" for his '66 BB. He's going to remove the Cragar mags, install the original steel wheels, and he'd like to get a set of spinner hubcaps. But...uh-oh, it seems the few places I've checked, the spinners simply aren't available. Not NOS or repros. It appears you can get '65's, but it seems that '66's are hard to find.

Question is, am I looking in the wrong places, or is this situation really reflective of the market availability?

    Thanks in advance for comment.

There seems to be spinners available on e-bay quite often. The condition of the product is always in question. I have a set for my 66 coupe that I will be installing shortly, unless I go for some other wheels - they are not for sale.

They do turn up on ebay. I just bought a set of "drivers" for $100.00 and think that was an ok price based upon condition. One of them is bent, but I think I can fix it. The other three needed new center inserts ($11 each from LICS) and they all needed painting. I think when I'm done I'll end up with 2 real nice ones, one that will look good from ten feet, two if I can unbend #4. I tell you this to give examples of what's out there. An NOS set went a few months ago, dish part only, no spinners and then I have seen spinners separated from the dish part. The NOS guys went for over $250. Too rich for me. I have also seen hubcaps listed in Hemmings and I think the Driveline. Painting is not as hard as I thought it would be. LICS has the proper paint. Masking is tedious, but good job for a rainy day.

        Tom,

I think Corvette Specialities of Maryland sells a repro set of 66 spinners for $149.
