I just finished four years of restoration on a 1970 convertible. State Farm says that according to their tables, a car that old is worth only about a third of what I spent (and of market price). To increase the coverage, I need to get it appraised. State Farm does not have any requirements for appraisers (credentials, experience, etc.)
My own history with auto appraisers is not good--I've run into some who care more about keeping the insurance companies happy than with establishing true market value. I even had one who valued a car at half the NADA and Corvette Fever survey values because "there are just too many Corvettes."
Does anyone have a good appraiser in South Florida who is familiar with older Corvettes?
Thanks,
