1971 electric switch

I have a 1971, Bought my car 5 yrs. ago, and never needed/used this electric switch! Its not in the owners or other repair manuals I have! The knob is about 11/2 inchs round and chrome almost like the radio vol. knob! It is mounted in the front left console filler plate near the gas pedal! I know this sounds stupid BUT, if you know I would it would set my mind at ease! Thanks in advance, Larry!

I'll bet that your car is also equipped with the C-50 rear window defroster which may or may not be still functional. The switch that you describe is the control switch for the defroster.

That must be it, because there is an air grate in the left rear area, near the window, thought it was a vent, thanks again!
