    Master Cylinder - Oops!

I came across a master cylinder the other day that I thought would be correct for my '68 and picked it up. I could not remember if the PG stamp was correct for manual or power brakes. I figured that I had a 50/50 chance it would be correct for my car that does not have power brakes. I was wrong.

For my own edification, does anyone know the difference between the two and what would be the issue with using the PG stamped MC on a non power brake car?

The "PG" coded Corvette master cylinder is a 1-1/8" bore master cylinder. If this master cylinder were used on a non-power brake application, it would increase the pedal effort necessary to achieve the same braking action as would be accomplished by a 1" bore master cylinder (the size used for all 67-76 Corvettes with manual brakes). It would produce about a 20% increase in pedal effort.
