    1963 Part Number?

    Hi all,
Can someone tell me the part number for the left and right seats in 1963?
    Thanks,
    Craig

    Craig-----

For all practical purposes, you could never purchase Corvette seats as a complete assembly, ready to bolt in a car. That's not completely true since, in days of old, during a particular model year and ONLY during the actual PRODUCTION period for that model year, special arrangements could usually be made for the acquisition of replacement seat assemblies when required. These assemblies were usually manufactured at the vehicle assembly plants for PRODUCTION purposes and somehow channeled through some special parts channels to GM dealers. If you needed seats for previous year models (i.e. not the model in current PRODUCTION and assuming that the seats were different), you were usually out of luck. As far as I know, no SERVICE stock of complete seat assemblies was ever maintained by GMSPO. I presume that seat assemblies so-distributed during the model year had part numbers, but, if so, those numbers have been lost in antiquity. It's really a moot point, anyway, and such numbers would be entirely academic.

It was possible to purchase 1963 Corvette seat back ASSEMBLIES, seat cushion ASSEMBLIES, and the other parts required to make up a complete seat. For 1963 Corvettes, the passenger and driver seat backs and cushions were the same for either side. These were available in a variety of interior trim colors and I won't provide all of the numbers. However, the BLACK seat backs were GM #3831687 and the BLACK seat cushions were GM #3831682. The MEDIUM RED seat backs were GM #3831688 and the MEDIUM RED seat cushions were GM #3831683. Other colors were also available. All of these back and cushion assemblies were discontinued from SERVICE between 1969 and 1971.

As I mentioned, to assemble a complete seat, one would not only need the back and cushion assemblies, but also the hinges, seat tracks, and several other parts.
